“I am Malala” is an autobiography written by the pakistan Nobel Peace Laureate Malala Yousafzai.
Some of you may know her for her terrible accident: when she was only 14 she was shot in the head by a group of taliban during her way back home from school.
Malala in this book, recalled her entire childhood and her difficult living in the Swat Valley, which she loved.
She explains the political situation and the rise of Taliban, and how she continued to carry on with her studies despite all.
On July 12 2013 Malala pronounced her famous speech at the UN Youth Takeover and her words touched and moved the whole world:
“One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world”
-Malala Yousafzai (UN speech)
Malala therefore founded Malala Fund, an organization that works to see each girl in school.
Malala Fund has also a digital publication called Assembly where girls around the world can share their stories and ideas.
“I am Malala” is a wonderful book and it encourages you to take action for girl education.
As Malala said:
“We realise the importance of light when we see darkness. We realise the importance of our voice when we are silenced.”
